Wed Jan 30 20:42:58 2008
[discworld-cre]
Malveron@RoD: I believe that is the first time I've ever seen this channel used

Jeebies@Discworld: I DIDN'T know it existed! It's great to learn! CUZ KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
Mon Mar 10 22:33:20 2008
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@DW_Clone: oh it never crashed, just got stuck in a loop, bit boring when it never moves along
Mon Mar 10 22:34:30 2008

Wodan@DW_Clone: limited reset_eval cost to 100 * the usual max eval cost, hope that'll stop it after a while
Thu Jul 31 15:36:32 2008
[discworld-cre]
Pit@Discworld wonders. What is this, and why does it appear twice in my list of things I'm not earmuffing?
¯\(O.o)/¯
It is a mystery.
Thu Jul 31 15:39:46 2008
[discworld-cre]
WasDrogan@WasMud: well pit you are the only discworld creator ive ever seen on this channel

Rotas@Discworld: remove Terrains from the clone to reduce load?
Thu Oct 23 22:53:41 2008
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@DW_Clone: hmm, that's a thought :) but what if people want to test terrain stuff?
Thu Oct 23 22:55:53 2008
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@DW_Clone: hmm, growing a MB a second now, maybe there is no hope after all
Thu Oct 23 22:57:12 2008

Wodan@DW_Clone: not much, but fear not, there are plans! (tm)
Thu Oct 23 23:26:19 2008

Qwer@Archipelago: a good plan needs at least five years to mature

Rawls@Shadow's Edge: Question from a super-newb admin messing around with DW lib here: Why does the driver insist on rebooting after the mud has only been up 40 minutes or so?
Thu Jan 15 23:23:06 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@DW_Wodan: at last, addr server seems to work with ipv6 as well
Thu Feb 19 14:21:26 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Has anybody here had an inconvenient MXP issue that seems to manifest itself in compressed clients? Room descriptions and exists surround themselves with MXP.blah.MXP and such.
Thu Feb 19 23:07:29 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Does anybody know what would compel zMUD in Discworld lib 17a to render all descriptions with MXP.blah.MXP around them?
Thu Feb 19 23:07:59 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: oh! actually turn on mxp in your client and reconnect
Thu Feb 19 23:13:53 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: It's zMUD. I dont think I can turn it off. =(
Thu Feb 19 23:16:26 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I dont suppose anybody has any idea how that would be done?
Thu Feb 19 23:18:33 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I think it might be an invalid MXPTRIG
Thu Feb 19 23:21:21 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: mxp is what the mud uses internally for mxp stuff, it gets replaced for connections that actually have mxp enabled
Thu Feb 19 23:21:44 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: i'm guessing you used the options system to enable it mudside
Thu Feb 19 23:22:09 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I use this exact version of zMUD with identicle setting on Discworld, so you're probably right. Do you have any idea where they actually are in the lib?
Thu Feb 19 23:23:06 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: not by heart, and it's bedtime, maybe tomorrow!
Thu Feb 19 23:23:47 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: oh, turn off iconv support in the driver if you have it on, that would disturb your mxp telnet negotiations on that version of the lib
Fri Feb 20 19:29:19 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Wodan! I love you! Have my babies! Oh, and ICONV didn't fix my MXP issues. =(
Fri Feb 20 19:30:03 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: she's three years old alreay, i'm afraid :)
Fri Feb 20 19:30:08 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Possibly. It depends on whether or not I get it to work without having to strip MXP out of everything by hand. =P
Fri Feb 20 19:30:58 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I think I'm going to try turning off ZLIB, and seeing what happens.
Fri Feb 20 19:31:54 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: seems i can't connect to your address as listed in the mudlist
Fri Feb 20 19:32:08 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: connect to mud.penguihost.com on port 1701
Fri Feb 20 19:33:23 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I should probably enable the manual IP, so it stops saying that
Fri Feb 20 20:22:41 2009

Qwer@Archipelago: intergossip tell Person@Mud my SS number is xxxxxxxx

[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: is the skills file output done using regular expressions?
Fri Feb 20 23:09:10 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I'm trying to fix it's output so that the columns line up properly, but I'm having a bugger of a time doing it and I'd like to know what to look up.
Fri Feb 20 23:44:39 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: what is the call to add levels/skills to yourself?
Sat Feb 21 00:07:17 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Is there anything special I should know about trying to setup the www directory? Can I just drop it into my public_html, or do I need to do some apache ls'ing and open up another port?
Sat Feb 21 20:43:28 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I require a bit of help determining what file is pointed to for /www/ when a user connects to the :5678 port
Sat Feb 21 20:45:58 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: if they don't specify a file it'll be index.html
Sat Feb 21 20:49:07 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Well, the problem I have is that when I reboot the server, :5678 just doesnt work for a long time and then it just randomly kicks in.
Sat Feb 21 20:49:20 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I'm trying to find the file it hits first, so I can start debugging from there
Sat Feb 21 20:55:27 2009
[discworld-cre]
Qwer@Archipelago: next time you reboot, check to see if the web server is running with the "sockets" command
Sat Feb 21 20:55:46 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: oh, the actual server is /net/daemon/http.c won't do a thing until that's loaded
Sat Feb 21 20:55:53 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I know everything else is being served, just not that particular port.
Sat Feb 21 20:59:43 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: That did it, running an upd on /net/daemon/http.c made it start.
Sat Feb 21 20:59:58 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: I wonder if there's a way to put that into the mud start automatically.
Sat Feb 21 21:03:11 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: files in /secure/config/preload should get loaded at bootup, is it in there?
Sat Feb 21 21:04:21 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: Apparently it caused lag in the preload process, judging from the comments
Sun Feb 22 01:56:51 2009
[discworld-cre]
Tapeworm@Penguihost: "Number of arguments disagrees with previous definitino. before ;" - does that indicate literally that there are too many args, or that one of the args has a bad type?
Thu May 7 21:15:09 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@DW_Clone: well, after saving dw from running out of memory in 18 hours, i thought i'd try a similar trick on dwclone, it now uses sysmalloc except for realloc it does a malloc/memcpy/free, and now it doesn't explode anymore (memory wise)
Thu May 7 21:16:11 2009
[discworld-cre]
Hamlet@Discworld: you mean, the memory leak is with the libc realloc()?
Thu May 7 21:18:07 2009
[discworld-cre]
Krimpal@Discworld: did someone say that debian had forked glibc? Womnder if it was a malloc thing
Thu May 7 21:21:23 2009
[discworld-cre]
Krimpal@Discworld: oh ... that was just a hissing fit over development philospohies
Thu May 7 21:30:04 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@DW_Clone: i'm guessing it's memort fragmentation, the driver reallocs to less memory quite often, seems newer mallocs don't think that's likely to happen so they just keep the bigger allocation, or something like that
Sat Sep 19 13:19:05 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld_crash: wonder if it'll crash without th' players

Wodan@Discworld: ARRRRR wait, i changed th' name, so it's closed fer players, let me fix that :)
Sat Sep 19 14:55:46 2009
[discworld-cre]
Aristophanes@Discworld: Why don't we just log on 'n' clone whole load o' npcs?
Sat Sep 19 14:56:02 2009
[discworld-cre]
Aristophanes@Discworld: Or we could just take Pit's advice 'n' script :P
Sat Sep 19 15:01:39 2009
[discworld-cre]
Pit@Discworld: Why do people even bother t' script in th' savannah? Everythin' has annoyin' positions (different than "standin' here") thar.

Aristophanes@Discworld: ugh. Hard work t' log on multiple alts.
Sat Sep 19 15:23:03 2009
[discworld-cre]
Aristophanes@Discworld: I'll try t' cause chaos on aristphanest instead :P
Sat Sep 19 15:31:50 2009
[discworld-cre]
Aristophanes@Discworld: I seem t' be utterly failin' t' even lag it :(
Sat Sep 19 15:50:25 2009
[discworld-cre]
Wodan@Discworld: that be odd, it's on th' same link as discworld
Sat Sep 19 16:32:33 2009
[discworld-cre]
Pit@Discworld: I give up. I can't get this that t' crash without makin' an effort that would also crash this one. :(

Ideysus@ShadowMUDii: Some Discworld coder (perhaps Drakkos) wrote a short note on the topic of skill reduction/capping. Anybody have the URL?
Mon Nov 9 21:42:53 2009

Ideysus@ShadowMUDii: Hmm: http://discworld.atuin.net/lpc/playing/documentation.c?path=/

Ideysus@ShadowMUDii: I don't know if its intentional to show all that documentation, but if it isn't, please don't fix it until I'm done reading. :-)
